About This Map
This Civil War map reproduction captures the intimate detail of Jed. Hotchkiss’s Virginia sketch book from 1862. Printed as a fine art quality reproduction, it delivers an authentic antique map experience for collectors and history lovers alike.
Restored by seasoned specialists with over a decade of experience, the archival-quality print preserves the original’s hachured relief and the parchment-style cover aesthetic. The map centers on general Northwestern Virginia and parts of Montgomery County, Maryland, showing roads, troop movements, and the names of residents where known, all rendered with careful attention to historical accuracy.
- Archival-quality print on acid-free paper to maintain color and detail over time.
- Historical accuracy of roads, troop movements, and resident names as depicted in the source material.
- Faithful topographical style with relief shown by traditional hachures for authentic texture.
- Contextual background reflects field sketches used in conversations with figures like Jackson, Ewell, and Early.
- Decorative and educational—an ideal piece for study spaces, libraries, or refined wall displays.
Whether you’re a dedicated Civil War buff, a map enthusiast, or seeking a distinctive decor piece, this archival reproduction brings history to life in your space. Add this timeless map to your collection today and let history adorn your walls.
- For the best legibility, order your map in the original size or larger. Most maps have intricate detail and small text that is best appreciated when the print size hasn't been reduced.
- Sizes labeled "Fits a Standard Frame" will drop right into any frame that you purchase in that size. The sizes that we offer are commonly available online and at most retail stores.
- Our standard sizes are recommendations based on the aspect ratio of the original map, but still may require some added "white space" in one dimension to fit.
- Non-standard sizes will require custom framing, and we suggest taking your print to the frame shop of your choice after you receive it for the best results.
- Custom sizes are available, simply contact us for a quote.
